Ed Druml retired to the Ozarks from Colorado in 1992. He moved here to fish, and fish he did. He joined the Rod And and Reel Club and became a leader for many years where he shared his fishing knowledge. Although he enjoyed the meetings about multi-species fishing, he wanted to concentrate more on Walleye fishing. 2004 was an important year for Ed. He met Nancy Kerner who became his significant other and fishing partner. For the next 16 years, they went to fishing club meetings and fished together.
In 2004 Ed and several of his fishing buddies became especially interested in Walleye fishing. They began meeting in the back of a candy store “on the square” in Mountain Home. They shared coffee, donuts, and information about catching Walleye. They also planned their fishing trips for the week ahead. As Ed and his buddies shared with other people, those meetings evolved into the
Walleye Anglers Group.
It was a very loose organization without rules, officers and dues. Because they shared so much information with so many, in 2009, the “group” became incorporated as the Twin Lakes Walleye Club. It grew to have over 200 members, much bigger than he ever imagined.
Ed served on the Board of Directors and was always the go-to guy for many presentations where he continued to serve and teach many of us. In the summer of 2019, Ed Druml was the first person awarded the Twin Lakes Walleye Club’s “Founding Member Award.” An honor so richly deserved!
Ed passed away on August 10, 2019. Our club will always remember Ed Druml as the “Fishing Teacher” and be grateful for his influence on so many people who moved to the Ozarks to fish.
