I moved to the Twin Lakes Area in 2001 to trout fish on the White River. While living on the river, I met someone who introduced me to the original founders of the Walleye Anglers Group (former name of Twin Lakes Walleye Club). I joined the group and became involved.
In 2006 Ed Druml, founder and leader of the group stepped down, and I stepped up and took leadership. I really wasn’t very knowledgeable in Walleye fishing, but I knew how to run a business. With the help of the board, we continued to move onward and upward. In 2014, I became president of TLWC.
I have been an officer and have served on the board since 2006. I have been involved in several jobs like making videos, taking DO/Temp, “Take a Member Fishing Program” which ran its course, led 3 seminars at the James A. Gaston Visitor’s Center (which set an attendance record in their classroom), was a liaison between local bait shops in the area, bought the merchandise for the door prizes and planned programs for our meetings by getting speakers from national companies. For the meetings, I have been in charge of sound, visuals and setting up the tables and chairs.
The reason I have stayed on the board this long is paying forward what I learned from the founders. I have made many friends over the years and, if staying on the board can make a difference to the members, then I have accomplished my goal.
